reaction

school starts again this Monday and i expect the usual behaviour ,if not worse, since i attempted to highlight these racist behaviours. the comments i have overheard are based on an attitude of give her and her family more of the same, but the only way to stop this publicity is to start to treat us as equals; equal opportunities, equal treatment, as outlined by the European courts of human rights.
the Spanish nation has already been found guilty in these courts for racist behaviour and benefits cut. If Spain is to benefit from this membership it needs to understand that it is also controlled by its rules.
i hope that this blog will allow other discriminated people to speak out.

Although I essentially support your fight against racism, I would like to point out that:

- Almost every UE member has been found guilty in European Courts of Human Rights for different reasons. If this would imply a ban from EU, EU would be empty.

- Not only Spain, but every member is to benefit from EU membership. I understand that you are not saying that Spain should abide by UE rules to get money, as if it was a matter of "buying honestity".

- Finally, I sometimes see that people are treated differently not because of their race, but for other reasons.

Anyhow, I think that all the noise concerning racism is good noise, for it creates a concern, not only in school teachers, but in everyone; some sort of "am I doing right" feeling that is pretty healthy.

thankyou for your contribution.
i simply ask you to read my latest post 17th feb and ask if this was your child how would you feel?
i have tried to resolve these problems through negaotiation but when continually faced with non co-operation i felt no other course was open but publication. if spain is willing to face up to racial problems a step in the right direction would be to establish a race relations organisation that would fully investigate racially motivated problems reported to them, similiar to the commision for racial equailty that has been established in the uk for over 20 years.

I was clearly not talking about feelings.

Publication seems a good idea to me, as well as that Race Trouble Investigation Agency, or whatever.
